CFO's Commitment to Animal Health and Welfare
Animal Health and Welfare Position Statement:
Chicken Farmers of Ontario and its farmers are committed to the respectful, humane treatment of all the birds in our care.
CFO's Raised by a Canadian Farmer Animal Care Program (ACP) and Raised by a Canadian Farmer On-Farm Food Safety Program (OFFSP) set out clear, auditable and enforceable standards to help guarantee the safety and humane treatment of chickens. These standards are continuously enhanced through ongoing investment in best practices, the implementation of modern technologies, upgraded facilities and through the adoption of new methods of production.
For the third year in a row NSF International’s on-farm assessments, witness audits and management audits have demonstrated that CFC has effectively and consistently implemented the Raised by a Canadian Farmer On-Farm Food Safety Program and the Raised by a Canadian Farmer Animal Care Program.

Producing Safe, Healthy, High Quality Chicken for Ontario Consumers
CFO operates within an economic system called supply management. Under this system, CFO has been granted the authority through the Ontario Farm Products Marketing Commission to develop and enforce a strict regulatory regime concerning the production and marketing of chicken in Ontario. This authority also allows CFO to set regulations and policies to ensure that the chicken produced in Ontario is safe, healthy, well cared for and of the highest quality.
