CFO COVID-19 business update – Postponing audits to support public health and safety

To our stakeholders:
We can all agree that the COVID-19 pandemic has very quickly challenged the way we live and work.
At Chicken Farmers of Ontario (CFO), we are continually committed to the health and safety of our CFO staff-associates, our farmer-members and all our industry stakeholders.
Our ‘People First’ Approach
As the pandemic has progressed, and governments have been clear on their expectation that everyone implements ‘social distancing’, CFO is doing all that we can to limit in-person interactions.
That's why, for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic, we’re going to be doing certain things differently!
‘Doing Audits Differently’
During the pandemic, CFO’s Farming Operations Representative (FOR) team will not be performing on-farm audits.
Unless necessary, FORs will not be visiting farmer-members’ farms.
We’re doing our part to observe social distancing, and we are putting the health and safety of our farmers, their families and our CFO team members first!
In the meantime, there are many ways FORs and farmer-members can work together to ensure on-farm food safety and animal care standards are being upheld.
Farmer-members who have an upcoming on-farm audit will be contacted by their FOR regarding the postponement, and this will also give FORs the opportunity to address any questions that farmer-members may have.
Working with Industry
While we are lessening in-person exposure with the postponement of on-farm audits, we recognize that there are certain industry providers that must continue to visit our farms.
In these circumstances, we would like to remind all farmer-members and industry stakeholders that extreme caution and care must be taken to mitigate the public health risks posed by the spread of COVID-19. CLICK HERE to access the Ontario Ministry of Health’s recommended COVID-19 guidelines.
