CFO celebrates International Rural Women’s Day

Women in Leadership initiative continues to gain momentum

BURLINGTON, ON – October 15, 2019 – Today, International Rural Women’s Day, Chicken Farmers of Ontario is celebrating the many women leaders in Ontario’s chicken business.

Nearly half of all CFO farmer-members are women, and CFO’s Board of Directors is committed to continuing to support and encourage women in the chicken business to get further involved in the collective industry.

“Women are quota holders, farm managers, and leaders in Ontario’s chicken industry,” said Ed Benjamins, Chair of Chicken Farmers of Ontario. “Building a strong network and encouraging more women to take on leadership roles in the chicken business was part of the vision for CFO’s Women in Leadership initiative.”

CFO’s Women in Leadership initiative encourages female farmer-members to plan and participate in related activities in their community, and the initiative continues to build momentum.

Recently, The Poultry Site published a story highlighting Carolyn Cornelissen, a CFO District Committee Representative for District 3. This article builds on previous coverage that focussed on Wendy Lantz, a CFO District Committee Representative for District 8.
