CFO continues partnership with local MPPs to ensure steady supply of chicken gets to those in need

ETOBICOKE, ON – April 25, 2017 – The Chicken Farmers of Ontario (CFO) Board of Directors partnered with Yvan Baker, Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) for Etobicoke Centre at a CFO Cares community donation event. A donation of fresh Ontario premium chicken was made to the Westway United Church’s food bank program on behalf of chicken farmers in the province.

This event was part of a series of community food bank donation events that are made possible through the CFO Cares Food Bank Donation Program. CFO has been partnering with local MPPs across the province to provide healthy chicken in communities that need it most. With over 250 Ontario chicken farmers participating in the program on an annual basis, CFO Cares donors have contributed over 850,000 chicken meals to hunger relief.

“This marks an important first for the Westway United Food Bank and the surrounding community in which they serve,” said Murray Opsteen, CFO Board Director who was on-site representing farmer-members participating in the program. “Proteins like chicken are among the most-needed items at food banks, and it’s the first time that this food bank has been able to provide fresh chicken to its users. I commend our chicken farmers for this important donation, and the volunteers at Westway United who work tirelessly to meet the needs of their community.”
