CFO Joins International Poultry Experts

To discuss latest developments on sustainable and profitable chicken production 

May 25, 2016 – Dr. Gwen Zellen, DVM, Chicken Farmers of Ontario’s Vice President of Quality, Technical Affairs and Sustainability attended one of Europe’s largest research and education conferences geared towards value creation and sustainability for the poultry industry.

The Poultry Summit Europe 2016 held in Utrecht, the Netherlands, brought together more than 200 industry leaders, health specialists and veterinarians from around the globe to discuss best practices in poultry management and to assess ongoing challenges and opportunities for the commercial poultry sector.

The Summit presented the latest in technological developments for the poultry sector, with a primary focus on the development and management of effective antibiotic reduction strategies in the treatment and management of commercial poultry flocks. Workshops and sessions provided practical insights derived from international scientific, industry and consumer studies and offered participants new and evolving perspectives and implementation strategies to manage flock health and welfare issues. Topics of discussion included genetic selection and breeding, biosecurity, stress reduction on the farm, diet optimization, animal welfare and sustainability, and consumer acceptance.
