CFO helps kick off local food week celebrations at Queen’s Park

TORONTO, ON, June 10, 2016 – Henry Zantingh, Chair of Chicken Farmers of Ontario opened Foodland Ontario’s Farmers’ Market at Queen’s Park yesterday in celebration of Local Food Week. The event featured CFO alongside many agricultural industry partners who showcased a variety of fresh, local food produced right here in Ontario.

The Farmers’ Market attracted hundreds of Government of Ontario employees, MPPs and Ministers including Hon. Jeff Leal, Ontario Minister of Agriculture Food and Rural Affairs.

"Holding this event on the front lawn of the Queen's Park Legislative Building is a strong indicator of the profile and importance that the provincial government places on local food and agriculture," said Henry Zantingh. "CFO was honoured to be part of this collaborative event with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and Foodland Ontario and to represent its 1,100 family-farmers."

"The Ontario agricultural system continues to evolve to meet the changing needs of Ontario consumers," said Rob Dougans, President and CEO, CFO. "Events like the Foodland Ontario Local Food Market at Queen's Park help to demonstrate the diversity and range that local food producers have on offer for today's Ontario."

Foodland Ontario helps to promote fresh, delicious food close to home, all while supporting local farmers and business. CFO continues to partner with Foodland Ontario to help promote locally grown, Ontario food including fresh, healthy chicken grown by Ontario farmers.
