BURLINGTON, ON – October 29, 2020
– On Wednesday, October 28, 2020, Chicken Farmers of Ontario (CFO) hosted the second semi-annual Virtual CFO Industry Insight Meeting of 2020. The online meeting was attended by numerous industry representatives, including primary processors, feed manufacturers, veterinarians, transporters, hatcheries, government, academia, and other allied industry partners.
The CFO Industry Insight meeting is an opportunity for stakeholders to collaborate and discuss the latest chicken industry news and align initiatives. Key topics of the Fall meeting included: discussions on the Ontario chicken industry’s continual adaptation to the COVID-19 pandemic; an overview of CFO’s Strategic Plan 2020-2022 with the goal to accelerate the business to the next level of performance; and a review of the CFO Chicken as Usual campaign, which demonstrates to consumers that although it’s not business as usual, it is still chicken as usual in terms of farmers’ commitment to producing safe, healthy, high quality chicken.
CFO was pleased to welcome guest speaker Semhar Tekeste, Senior Public Affairs Consultant from Enterprise Canada, who provided an update on the current Federal and Provincial political landscape.
“Although these are uncertain times during the COVID-19 pandemic, our strategy is clear and essential – we will emerge stronger together from the crisis,” said Ed Benjamins, Chair, CFO. “We will work closely with our farmers, industry value chain stakeholders, and government to effectively manage shared challenges and opportunities.”
“Supporting strong collaboration with our industry partners continues to be of utmost importance as we proactively adapt to meet the evolving pandemic challenges,” said Rob Dougans, President & CEO, CFO. “Together, we have the ability to deliver balanced, sustainable, “next level” growth, advance our key priorities and generate long term value for farmer-members and stakeholders.”
The CFO Board of Directors would like to thank all participants for their contributions to the meeting.
