BURLINGTON, ON – November 11, 2021 – Chicken Farmers of Ontario (CFO) are presenting safe, healthy, locally-grown chicken to fifteen Ontario food banks in connection with CFO’s Feeding the Frontline campaign.
CFO launched the Feeding the Frontline campaign to thank and recognize Ontario’s frontline workers that continue to deliver essential goods and services to all Ontarians. Through the CFO Cares program, chicken farmers awarded fifteen frontline workers with a chicken dinner for them and their family, and the opportunity to direct a substantial donation of chicken to a local food bank or organization of their choice.
In addition to the Feeding the Frontline campaign, the CFO Cares: Farmers to Food Banks program has continued to support local food banks throughout 2021. Since the beginning of the CFO Cares program, over 500 farm families have donated, providing over 5 million meals of chicken to those in need.
“More than a year into the pandemic, we know COVID-19 continues to be a challenge for many in our community,” said Andrea Veldhuizen, Co-Chair of the CFO Cares Working Group and Board Director for CFO District 4. “That is why we are pleased to be supporting these fifteen food banks with this donation of chicken in connection with CFO’s Feeding the Frontline campaign.”
“While Ontario chicken farmers continue to work to ensure that it is 'Chicken As Usual' for Ontario families and foodbanks, we also want to recognize and thank all of the frontline workers that continue to help keep us safe, healthy and fed throughout this pandemic,” said Murray Opsteen, Co-Chair of the CFO Cares Working Group and Board Director for CFO District 6.
