National Allocation for A-179 set at +6.5%

BURLINGTON, ON – July 12, 2022 – National allocation for A-179 (October 23, 2022 – December 17, 2022) was set at +6.5% at the Chicken Farmers of Canada (CFC) meeting on July 12, 2022.

Demand for chicken continues to be strong. This is supported by competing meat prices and overall market conditions. The demand is also boosted by the lifting of most pandemic related restrictions which is reflected in the increasing of food service sales.

In making its recommendation to CFC, CFO consulted with the Ontario industry value chain and also examined market conditions using available data to understand consumer demand as well as expected supply, including imports. CFO continues to frame its allocation recommendation based on a strategic approach of “balanced best interest outcomes” by weighing the various factors and perspectives, and the chicken market influencing dynamics of the pandemic.

The volumes for domestic allocation, in eviscerated kilograms, for Ontario and Canada are:

Ontario anticipates volume allocations for A-180 will be set at the September 13, 2022 CFC Board meeting.
