National allocation for A-159 set at +3.5%

BURLINGTON, ON – June 27, 2019 – National allocation for A-159 (Sep 29, 2019 – Nov 23, 2019) was set at 3.5% at the Chicken Farmers of Canada (CFC) meeting on June 26, 2019 in Ottawa, Ontario.

The National allocation for A-160 was not set at this meeting and postponed to a later date.

The demand for chicken in Canada has recently experienced healthy and moderate growth following six years of consistently strong growth. Now, demand appears to be positioned for a more favourable outlook in the coming months. 

CFO has examined supply and demand factors to assess market needs for A-159 through quantitative analyses as well as consultations with industry partners and experts. CFO’s recommendation is framed on a public policy of “balanced best interest” upon weighing the various factors and perspectives.

The volumes, in eviscerated kilograms, for Ontario and Canada, as calculated by the allocation formula, are:
