Ontario chicken farmers fighting hunger this holiday season

TORONTO, ON – December 7, 2018 – Chicken Farmers of Ontario (CFO) is proud to have participated in CBC’s Sounds of the Season annual charity fundraising event for the fourth year in a row. On behalf of Ontario’s chicken farmers, CFO presented a $10,000 donation and skids of chicken which were delivered to the Daily Bread Food Bank during the CBC live-broadcasting event on December 6, 2018.

Through its CFO Cares Food Bank Donation program, Chicken Farmers of Ontario (CFO) regularly helps fight hunger in local communities by enabling farmers to donate their fresh chicken to food banks across the province. To-date, the hunger-relief program has donated over 2 million fresh chicken meals and is focused on building momentum and expanding its reach through donations and events such as CBC’s Sounds of the Season.

“Helping those in need and giving back to our communities is very important to farmers,” said Ed Benjamins, Chair, Chicken Farmers of Ontario while he was live on-air with CBC’s Sounds of the Season broadcast kick-off show. “We want to be sure that every Ontarian has access to the safe, healthy, high-quality chicken that they deserve. That’s why we are excited to once again be a part of CBC’s Sounds of the Season program, which is an excellent way to continue to put food on the plates of those who need it most.”
