Stronger Together: CFO & CFC Meet to Discuss Strategic Priorities

BURLINGTON, ONOctober 20, 2021 – This week, Chicken Farmers of Ontario (CFO) Board Directors and Chicken Farmers of Canada (CFC) Executive met to discuss CFC’s strategic priorities and upcoming planning process.

CFC’s Executive has engaged in a series of meetings country-wide to connect with provincial boards, concluding in-person sessions in Ontario. As the pandemic has presented many challenges for the chicken industry, the meeting provided another opportunity to focus on the future and further collaboration between CFO and CFC.

“The chicken industry is strongest when we all work in tandem on strategic priorities and long-term value creation,” said Tim Klompmaker, 2nd Vice-Chair of Chicken Farmers of Canada and CFO Board Director for District 9. “We’ve heard many perspectives from across the country, and I am delighted to work with my colleagues at CFC to support alignment between provincial boards, CFO and CFC.”

The CFO Board continues to work with CFC to support the development of CFC’s next strategic plan.

“CFO is committed to working with CFC to advance mutual priorities and support the national supply management system,” said Denise Hockaday, CEO of Chicken Farmers of Ontario. “Together, we have the ability to deliver an environment that supports Ontario chicken farmers and maintains a steady supply of safe, healthy, locally-grown chicken, while also generating sustainability for farmers.”

The COVID-19 pandemic has had profound impacts on the economy and society; however, the Ontario chicken industry has remained resilient and continues to keep it Chicken As Usual. Now more than ever, the power of collaboration is emphasized to face the recovery challenges of today and tomorrow.

"If there is anything that the last year and half has demonstrated, it is that we are stronger when we are united,” said Ed Benjamins, Chair of Chicken Farmers of Ontario. “COVID-19 has brought about changes to many common routines – and things are still certainly not business as usual – however through strong collaboration with CFC and the entire chicken supply chain, we’re continuing to keep chicken on the plates of those who need and want it.”

Together, CFO and CFC will benefit from aligned priorities and continue to grow a more resilient and robust Canadian chicken industry.
